Football Emblem

Mr Gray was a champion for local youth having worked in many capacities within the City of Alexandria's Recreation Department beginning in his last year at Parker Gray High School in 1959. Promoted to Director, he remained in that position until his retirement in 2006. He coached thousands over the years and was instrumental in the planning and building of the new Charles Houston Recreation Center and the continued success of the Alexandria Youth Football league. He was a strong disciplinarian and stressed teamwork to all the children he guided. He will be missed by his children, Anthony, Andre', Dennis, Denise and Traverse Jr; his grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother Harvey Gray, sister Julia Turner, his co-workers in the City and his many friends.
