Dove Emblem

Gertrude Elaine Jones Brackett was born on October 2, 1937 from the union of Cosby A. Jones, Sr. and Florence M. Johnson in Faber, VA.

Elaine married Harold Brackett on January 30, 1960. Out of this union two sons were born - Harvey Brackett and George Brackett. After marriage, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where her husband was stationed in the Air Force. When he got out of the military, they moved to Culpepper, VA and then Alexandria, VA.

Elaine was a Licensed Practical Nurse and she worked many years in that field. When her children were born she quit to take care of them. She returned to work when they started school. She retired to take care of her grandchildren Harold and Noelle. They were the joy of her life.

Elaine joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA where she sang in the Senior Choir and helped wrap sandwiches for the homeless. She was active until her health started to fail.

Her favorite things to do were to take care of her grandchildren, doing word search, and watching TV.

On Saturday, February 9, 2019, Elaine peacefully departed this life. She leaves to cherish her loving memory – her husband, Harold; one son, Harvey (Rachel); two grandchildren, Harold and Noelle Brackett; one brother, Willis Jones (Lucille); one sister, Gladys Highland (Richard), and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by one son, George Brackett; her parents, Cosby and Florence Jones; and 4 brothers, Granvel Jones, Cosby Jones, Jr., Harry Jones and John Jones.

She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her but God loved her first.
