Tribute & Message From The Family

On Friday September 20, 2019, Roberta Lee Haley entered into eternal rest. Roberta was born on November 20, 1953 in Alexandria, Virginia to the late Sadie Mae Haley and Mose Haley. She was the fifth of eight children.

Berta, as she was affectionally known, attended Alexandria City Public Schools. Berta lived her life and loved to party. She loved music, singing, dancing and enjoyed watching Lifetime and any Science Fiction Movies. Berta had a heart of gold and would share anything she had with anyone in need. Although she struggled with her silent sorrows, she constantly fought to get through them, forgive and make peace.

Roberta was baptized at Mount Jezreel Baptist Church of Alexandria, Virginia under the leadership of Reverend Houston.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory three sons: Anthony Haley, Eric Haley and Derrico Haley; 11 grandchildren: Javonne Simms, Mia Haley, Jaiden Haley, Sheanna Horsley, Ter'Kwaun Sauls, Kayla Haley, Kira Haley, Colin Williford, Remi Cae Haley, Maya Vines and Ka'den Haley; 4 sisters: Dorothy A. Haley, Janet Eloise (Raymond Eloise), Brenda J. Haley and Jacqueline C. Haley; 3 brothers that preceded her in death, Mose L. Haley, Celeste Haley and Charles B. Haley;
her aunt: Wilhelmina Ellis and lifetime companion, Earl Pope and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and an abundant number of lifetime friends.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Ms. Haley was my roommate while we were in Health South Rehab (2016) in Fredericksburg, VA. She and I became fast-friends and kept in touch after she left. We would call and write each other and she always asked about my family and encouraged me with her love of laughter and kindness. Even when I didn't hear back from her, I thought and prayed for her often. I am sorry to hear of her passing, however, find comfort in knowing she is in heaven because of her decision to ask Jesus to forgive her sins and come into her heart! (John 3:16-17; Romans 5:8 & 6:23. She was a vibrant, sweet and gentle woman. I am thankful to have met her and will continue to pray for the family.

I was surprised and sorry to hear about your passing Aunt Berta, I'm glad I had the chance to see you and tell you that I Love You weeks before your passing.

God knew how I would feel if I hadn't gotten that chance. Sleep well Auntie, you will always be in my heart.
