Ron and I studied music together at UDC. I only ran into him occasionally but he was always the consummate professional and just a great gut to know. He always greets you with a smile and kind word. He was one of the best drummers I have ever had the privilege to know. The DMV music scene will miss him.

The smile, the laughter, the kindness, the sharing, the caring, We,me and two other music teachers, and Ron shared a space in time at Spring Hill Lake ES. I thought of him often this week. He was so cool, so talented, so full of grace, a gentle man, a true gentleman.

I first met Ron at Ketcham Elementary where I was the Tech. Coordinator and he was the music teacher. Ron was a true spirit, nothing phony about him. He always had a smile and giving me friendly advise and encouragement, laughter and wisdom. Always We talked about music, because we both loved jazz and jazz history. I would go to see his performances at local venues. I am sad losing a comrade and friend like Mr. Ron Compton. Rest in Paradise, you will be truly missed. Kenneth Wilcots
